Ages ago, I was one of the hundreds who packed an auditorium to hear the la= te Prof. Sir Maurice Wilkes talk about standards. He raised a positive roar of laughter with his opening remark that "the really nice thing about setting a standard is that it forces everyone who comes after us to make the same mis= take we did". He then went on to talk about good and bad standards, what criter= ia should be met before abandoning them, etc. We all talked for weeks after a= bout the issues he raised and points he made. If I seem overly testy about this topic, I apologise. But it's caused me q= uite a bit of trouble over the years. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
