zfs compression definitely does work and you haven't explained why
you think it doesn't.

Did you run that command before or after you copied the data into
/home/compressed?

How much data did you load into /home/compressed?

How did you copy the data into /home/compressed?

What is the result of "zfs get all home/compressed"?
