Mike,

Defrag tools should not be needed for FreeBSD (or any UNIX OS).  The issues
requiring a Defrag tool in Windows OS or MacOS are not applicable to FreeBSD.

I sure a search (Yahoo, etc.) on ufs will gives a good deal of information
if the FreeBSD web sites do not have adequate information.  Your edu should
have plenty of UNIX books in the library which would also be a source of
information.
