	I have a 2-gig Quantum drive that reports itself to
3.1-RELEASE as:

da0: <QUANTUM VP32210 81H8> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device
da0: 10.0MB/s transfers (10.0MHz, offset 15)
da0: 2103MB (4308352 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 2103C)

	Left to its own devices, it gradually ticks down the
"tagged openings". Then, occasionally, it does this number:

Apr 24 21:14:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): SCB 0x24 - timed out while idle
, LASTPHASE == 0x1, SEQADDR == 0x9
Apr 24 21:15:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): Queuing a BDR SCB
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): Bus Device Reset Message Sent
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): no longer in timeout, status =
353
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: Unexpected busfree.  LASTPHASE == 0xa0
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: SEQADDR == 0x151
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): SCB 0x2 - timed out while idle,
 LASTPHASE == 0x1, SEQADDR == 0xa
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): Queuing a BDR SCB
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): Bus Device Reset Message Sent
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): no longer in timeout, status =
353
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: Unexpected busfree.  LASTPHASE == 0xa0
Apr 24 21:16:02 caern /kernel: SEQADDR == 0x151

	This was diagnosed as "bad firmware." Ok, I went over to the Quantum
website and downloaded the program QSHR_LDR and the latest firmware for a
VP32210. The drive would not scan. QSHR_LDR found my 1-Gb Quantum Fireball
just fine, but on the VP32210 it reported:

Info: Unexpected Call to GetMsg_Out() with MsgID 0x1d

Eight of these, all identical. An attempt to load the new firmware just hung.

	I retreated in disarray. I added an entry to the "quirk" table
turning off tagged queuing to the drive. The problem went away.

	Just thought you all might like to know that this drive might
have a problem.
