I usually use BulletProof FTP v1.13= when I FTP from a Windows NT workstation to our FreeBSD server. I've tried up= loading from a RH 6.0 linux workstation as well with the same results. I've fo= rced the network card to operate at 100baseTX full-duplex, which didn't change performance. Luckily, none of the files I uploaded to the FreeBSD serv= er have been corrupt. Author: zeus@tetron03.tetronsoftware.com Date: 10/25/99 4:44 PM Adam, If I could ask a couple of questions first, about your performance issues: 1. What sort of hub/switch are you using? 2. What client are you using to perform the ftp? (Win98, NT, Linux...) 3. Have you tried setting a direct connection (full duplex) between the client and freebsd server using a cross over cable? On occasion, I have seen the Intel driver incorrectly negotiate the wrong duplex mode with certain hubs (Yes, I said hubs, not switches.*grin*) . I was only able to track down the problem when creating a direct connection with a cross over cable. Often, the type of performance you are seeing also goes hand in hand with corrupted files after the transfer.
