https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D229335 Bug ID: 229335 Summary: net-mgmt/telegraf: should probably not run as root ..? Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: girgen@FreeBSD.org Reporter: julien@perdition.city Assignee: girgen@FreeBSD.org Flags: maintainer-feedback?(girgen@FreeBSD.org) Hello, I'm wondering if running Telegraf as root by default is really appropriate = ? I understand that it could cause a lot of permission "issues" to read certains metrics, but still, running arbitrary scripts as root through the exec plug= in for instance looks scary to me .. I'm wondering if it would it be possible to add the creation of a dedicated user in the ports, and a telegraf_user=3D"telegraf" in the rc.d script ? Thanks! --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
