I have used xdm/kdm on every PWS Alpha that I have set up. No problems.

xdm has been broken on FreeBSD/alpha for years.
Part of the problem is that Wraphelp.c isn't 64-bit clean.  OpenBSD
recently fixed this, but even with those changes applied, xdm still
won't work on FreeBSD/alpha.
