Thanks Robert! Unlike Chris who apparently likes to see his name in
print, you actually answered my question.

ls -al /var/db/pkg | grep ruby
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 22 18:01 plasma-scriptengine-ruby-4.6.5/
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 22 07:22 ruby-1.8.7.352,1/
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 22 05:24 ruby-1.9.2.290,1/
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 22 18:01 ruby18-kdebindings-4.6.5/
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 22 07:22 ruby19-bdb48-0.6.6/

So it appears I do have both versions installed.
