OK Albert, I am one of these people. How the hell do you expect me to get crashdumps when my entire disk subsystem is what is freezing and going out to lunch??? I get to ddb and type `panic'. All I get is the first part of the message of writing to disk. But guess what!?! Nothing happens because guess what!?! I no longer have a disk subsystem to save the crashdump to. `ps' will totally wedge the machine when it is in this state also.
