I installed FreeBSD three months ago. I am using a Vanta too. I didn't used Superprobe, I used XF86Setup (for Xfree 3.3.6). I specified there I have a RivaTNT2 card and it worked. For Xfree 4.0.1 I used 'XFree86 -configure' and it found my card.
