Walnut Creek do not offer technical support on FreeBSD - I believe
their promotional material actually says "we do not support this CD".

I'm not too familiar with IDE CDROMs, but I'd try having it as the
master on the second controller, or if that doesn't work, as the
slave on the first controller.

And of course you should *always* make a full backup of any important
data on your hard drive before doing anything potentially destructive
like putting a new operating system on it.

This is always the case with IDE drives, regardless of the operating
system - it's basically a design limitation in the PC.

I understand Walnut Creek do in fact operate such a policy.
