Note also nroff instead of groff. I vote this hint as the best of the day. I have wanted to print man pages for 8 months but it never had a high enough priority. It remained a low level gripe. I could print Windows help files but not FreeBSD. I wanted a hard copy of the user-ppp man page printed and nothing worked. I don't have a ps printer. If it had been a high enough bother, I would have asked the list but it never made it that high. I did a zcat /usr/share/man/man8ppp.8.gz | nroff -mandoc > /usr4/ppp.txt and I had a text version of ppp(8) on my /usr4 fs.
