Use ports/audio/sox. The commandline switches are a mess but .cdr 
type of sourcefile should work. Actually the data is unsigned 16-bit 
word, two channels and 44100 Khz sampling rate. I can be mistaken 
btw. Convert the source files to M$ wav format (sox says something 
about bad header or so, don't pay attention), then again use software 
from ports/audio to compress actual wav files. I prefer bladeenc, but 
-current has problems with BSD/OS emulation, thought it can be fixed 
now.
