The error

acd1 MODE_SENSE_BIG command timeout - resetting

occured repeatedly (12 times) until I cancelled the install (using the
5.0 and 5.1-BETA2 install CDs.)

acd1 is a Plextor CD-RW PXW1210A.

As I really don't need to install 5 on my workstation yet, it was a
boring Saturday night,  I will drop this unless someone is interesting
in following up with me on this issue, in which case I would be happy
to help out.
