I was told that a newer release may support the IDE CD-rom setup, > is this true. thanks. 2.0.5 is a little old - we're now up to 2.1.5, which has considerably better support for IDE CDROMs (although still not quite 100%). This was probably where you saw the atapi.flp file - this is a boot image that should have a sporting chance of recognising your CDROM. Note, though that you'll probably have to install 2.1.5 to be able to actually access the drive under FreeBSD, which may or may not be important to you. Also, the kernel that gets installed doesn't support IDE CDROMs, so you'll need to re-configure it (this isn't as difficult as it sounds).
