Firmware doesn't get loeaded automatically like with FreeBSD 7, but at least when I first use scanimage after pluging in it does the job. Newer versions than 1.0.19 don't do anything, just "no scanners were found" >How-To-Repeat: Plug a Epson 3940 and try to scan a image.
