There is a case where the OpenSolaris cyclic timer device uses fields in struct pcpu (or their equivalent), but I don't want to soil our pcpu with stuff to make it all opaque to get around the CDDL. Instead I'll just give the cyclic timer device a cpu array of it's own and it turns out I want to refer to that with a cpu_t.
