Hi I'm from Argentina, sorry for my poor English. I have a problem with PPPoE on FreeBSD 4.3-RELEASE. This is as follows: I've adquired an Internet account from a local provider called MILLICOM, which is based on Wireless Local Loop. This is not ADSL, the physical link is on a wave antenna, plus a cable to the network card of the PC. The provider's tehcnicians installed and configured for Windows, which is the unique OS who supports. But I wish connect to the net from a FreeBSD box which acts as router+gateway+firewall for my small lan. So, I installed FreeBSD 4.3-RELEASE from CD on a Pentium 200 Mhz, 32 Mb RAM, two HD: one 512 Mb, another 642 Mb, and two Ethernet cards. The installation was fine, I choose "Kernel Developer" for the installation profile, no X Window, enable gateway, the two NICs were recognized properly and all just seems well. OK, in order to connect to the net on this box, I proceed to configure PPPoE. I added the options NETGRAPH to the kernel config, config, make depend, make, make install and reboot Then I've edit the /etc/ppp/ppp.conf file and configured following the directives from the FreeBSD Handbook and others HOWTOs. I've started manually ppp with # /usr/sbin/ppp At the ppp prompt, I typed show physical, and dial And never gets connected. The three letters of the prompt stay in lowercase. The software shipped from the provider contains a Linux driver for pppoe. A friend of mine who have the same ISP installed it on SuSE Linux and works OK, but I don't want to fall on Linux :-) I attach with this message my ppp.conf and the ppp.log from this run. Thanks in advance for the help Regards Pablo ---- #################################### #ppp.conf: default: # PPP over Ethernet set device PPPoE:ed0 set speed sync set mru 1492 set mtu 1492 set ctsrts off enable lqr set log phase tun add default HISADDR enable dns millicom: set authname myuserid@millic.com.ar set authkey mypassword #################################### ppp.log: Jul 28 07:47:37 aragorn ppp[297]: Phase: Using interface: tun0 Jul 28 07:47:37 aragorn ppp[297]: Phase: deflink: Created in closed state Jul 28 07:47:37 aragorn ppp[297]: tun0: Phase: PPP Started (interactive mode).
