Theoretically, it CAN be as simple as 1. cvsup -h cvsup1.freebsd.org /usr/share/examples/cvsup/stable-supfile 2. cd /usr/src 3. make world 4. make kernel KERNCONF=yourkernelfile 5. mergemaster 6. reboot However, upgrading production servers is never as simple as "theory".
