Another thing that I just found...strip can't strip itself, with the following error: hub# ./strip strip ./strip: strip: File format not recognized Now, I don't know much about /etc/magic and magic numbers, but could this have anythign to do with it? hub# file strip strip: FreeBSD/i386 demand paged executable not stripped hub# file `which strip` /usr/bin/strip: FreeBSD/i386 demand paged dynamically linked executable the first strip is in /usr/local/bin, from binutils and the second is what is default with the system...
