Dear Ports Manager, My name is Dan Kogai, a daemon's advocate. I have been wondering why /usr/ports/lang/perl5 stays there even though it has been long obsolete. At the same time /usr/src/contrib/perl5 remains 5.005_03, which is very stable but once again obsolete for some of the latest modules at CPAN. So I made a port for perl 5.6.0 (Well, this one too would be obsolated by 5.6.1 soon but what the heck). We all know perl compiles fine with FreeBSD 4.x but it would be nice that ports/package exists. I made it available at the URI below. I would appreciate if you checked it. http://www.dan.co.jp/~dankogai/perl56.tar Remarks: - /usr/bin/perl remains intact - no patches used - suidperl enabled Should you have any question, please mail me back.
