I think you'll have to teach fbsdboot how to boot ELF kernels. you may have better luck trying to boot the loader, actually. Try copying /boot/loader to somewhere on the DOS partition, then try to boot it with fbsdboot. That will get you a boot: prompt you can point at the kernel from.
