FWIW, the linux site says:

"There has been a reported bug that previous versions of the driver did
not survive a suspend/resume on some machines.  However, the current
version (1.11) has a fix for the problem."

also:

"Thanks to the efforts of Marek Ziolkowski, he has confirmed that there
are potential problems with using a virtual display larger than 1024x768
and running the sound driver. Sorry about that, but there isn't anything
I can do to fix it--see the technical notes for an explanation."
