i searched google (web/usenet) for some kernel trace like 
utility ... came up w/ "general tracing facility" which was
geared towards p/390 (whatever that is) but description failed
to convice me.

searching ibm site first for "trac" then "diagnostic" brought 
results related to cics.

can anybody give me a clue what/where should i be looking for, or
if os/390 even has such a thing?
