Hi. The recent ports upgrade to XFree 4.3.0 has created a gnome font problem for me on two machines (laptop & desktop). I am running FreeBSD 5.0 current (updated two days ago) and current ports (updated yesterday with portupgrade -ra). The problem is that gnome terminal now displays no output whatsoever using the default fonts (and an irregularly shaped window), and the applications->desktop preferences->font has no fonts appearing in the font rendering windows. Things were working perfectly prior to the port upgrade. Other fonts can be used in the terminal, but not the monspace font which is the default. Also, in gnumeric-gnome the column headers appear as boxes (no font). Here is a link to a screenshot if this helps, along with some system information (uname -a, pkg_version, XF86Config) http://faculty.maxwell.syr.edu/jracine/Screenshot.png Any/all hints are gratefully received, and thanks in advance for your time! uname -a FreeBSD jracine-laptop.maxwell.syr.edu 5.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.0-CURRENT#0: Tue Apr 8 11:09:09 EDT 2003 root@jracine-laptop.maxwell.syr.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 pkg_version AbiWord-gnome Hermes Mesa ORBit ORBit2 XFree86 XFree86-FontServer XFree86-Server XFree86-clients XFree86-documents XFree86-font100dpi XFree86-font75dpi XFree86-fontCyrillic XFree86-fontDefaultBitmaps XFree86-fontEncodings XFree86-fontScalable XFree86-libraries Xaw3d Xft aalib acme acroread aspell at-spi atk autoconf autoconf213 automake14 bash bison bonobo bonobo-activation bonobo-conf bugbuddy2 cvsup db3 docbook-sk docbook-xml docbook-xsl eel2 emacs eog2 esound evolution expat ezm3 faces fileroller fltk fontconfig freetype freetype2 gail gal gal2 galeon2 gconf gconf-editor gconf2 gdbm gdk-pixbuf gdm2 gedit2 gettext ggv2 ghostscript-gnu gimp glade2 gle glib glib glibwww gmake gnome-icon-theme gnome-pkgview gnome-themes gnome2 gnomeapplets2 gnomeaudio gnomecanvas gnomecontrolcenter gnomecontrolcenter2 gnomedb gnomedesktop gnomegames2 gnomehier gnomelibs gnomemedia2 gnomemimedata gnomepanel gnomepilot gnomepilot-conduits gnomeprint gnomesession gnomespell gnomesystemmonitor gnometerminal gnomeuserdocs2 gnomeutils2 gnomevfs gnomevfs2 gnumeric2 gnuplot gob gob2 gsm gstreamer gstreamer-plugins gtk gtk gtk-engines2 gtk-thinice-engine gtkhtml guile help2man imake imlib intltool jpeg lam lcms lha libIDL libart_lgpl2 libaudiofile libbonobo libbonoboui libcapplet libgail-gnome libgda libgda2 libghttp libglade libglade2 libgmp libgnome libgnomecanvas libgnomedb libgnomeprint libgnomeprintui libgnomeui libgnugetopt libgsf libgtkhtml libgtop2 libiconv libmikmod-esound libmng libogg libpanel librep librsvg2 libtool libungif libunicode libvorbis libwnck libwww libxml libxml2 libxslt libzvt linc linux_base lzo lzop m4 magicfilter metacity metacity-setup metatheme2 mkcatalog mozilla mozilla mozilla-headers mozilla-headers nautilus-gtkhtml nautilus-media nautilus2 nspr nss oaf pango pdflib perl pgplot pilot-link pkgconfig png popt portupgrade psiconv py22-expat python rdate rep-gtk2 rplay rpm rsync ruby ruby-bdb1 ruby-rdoc ruby-shim-ruby18 sawfish2-esound scrollkeeper sdocbook-xml soup sox startup-notification tcl tcl teTeX tiff tk tk unzip urwfonts urwfonts-ttf vte wrapper xemacs xemacs-packages xmms-esound xscreensaver-gnome yelp zip /usr/bin/env SSH_AGENT_PID=75192 SHELL=/usr/local/bin/bash DESKTOP_STARTUP_ID= TERM=xterm WINDOWID=25165838 USER=root LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/pgplot TERMCAP=xterm|xterm-color|X11 terminal emulator:ti@:te@:k1=\EOP:k2=\EOQ:k3=\EOR:k4=\EOS:k5=\E[15~:k6=\E[17~:k7=\E[18~:k8=\E[19~:k9=\E[20~:k;=\E[21~:F1=\E[23~:F2=\E[24~:kH=\EOF:@7=\EOF:kI=\E[2~:kh=\EOH:*6=\EOF:kP=\E[5~:kN=\E[6~:ku=\EOA:kd=\EOB:kr=\EOC:kl=\EOD:Km=\E[M:li#24:co#80:am:kn#12:km:mi:ms:xn:bl=^G:is=\E[!p\E[?3;4l\E[4l\E>:rs=\E[!p\E[?3;4l\E[4l\E>:AL=\E[%dL:DL=\E[%dM:DC=\E[%dP:al=\E[L:dc=\E[P:dl=\E[M:UP=\E[%dA:DO=\E[%dB:LE=\E[%dD:RI=\E[%dC:ho=\E[H:cd=\E[J:ce=\E[K:cl=\E[H\E[2J:cm=\E[%i%d;%dH:cs=\E[%i%d;%dr:im=\E[4h:ei=\E[4l:ks=\E[?1h\E=:ke=\E[?1l\E>:kD=\E[3~:sf=\n:sr=\EM:st=\EH:ct=\E[3g:sc=\E7:rc=\E8:eA=\E(B\E)0:as=^N:ae=^O:ml=\El:mu=\Em:up=\E[A:nd=\E[C:md=\E[1m:me=\E[m^O:mr=\E[7m:so=\E[7m:se=\E[27m:us=\E[4m:ue=\E[24m:vi=\E[?25l:ve=\E[?25h:ut:Co#8:pa#64:op=\E[39;49m:AB=\E[4%dm:AF=\E[3%dm:kb=\010: SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-fYp8WPZt/agent.75185 USERNAME=jracine SESSION_MANAGER=local/jracine-laptop.maxwell.syr.edu:/tmp/.ICE-unix/75185 FTP_PASSIVE_MODE=YES MAIL=/var/mail/root PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin:.:./:/root/bin:/root/C/nn/gcc:/root/C/n_alpha/gcc:/usr/local/Acrobat4/bin:/usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0.2/program::.:./:/root/bin:/root/C/nn/gcc:/root/C/n_alpha/gcc:/usr/local/Acrobat4/bin:/usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0.2/program: BLOCKSIZE=K PWD=/root LAMRSH=ssh -x TZ=EST PS1=[\u]\w/ GDMSESSION=Gnome SHLVL=2 HOME=/root TEXEDIT=emacs +%d %s GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=Default PGPLOT_DIR=/usr/local/pgplot/ BASH_ENV=/root/.bashrc LOGNAME=root LC_CTYPE= DISPLAY=:0.0 XAUTHORITY=/root/.Xauthority COLORTERM=gnome-terminal _=/usr/bin/env XF86Config #
