Personally, I prefer to be cc'd on things I've responded to. I filter all mail (as I'm sure you do) into boxes based on subject so that my `inbox' receives comparatively few messages. I always read my inbox first, so if I'm lagging on one of the other groups (I currently have 2600 outstanding messages in my freebsd-questions folder since my holiday), a ``conversation'' doesn't suffer. I've seen people posting a standard header something like [please don't cc me in a reply if you're sending to the group] as a standard header on usenet - you may want to employ the same sort of idea - I think most people on mailing lists ``reply to all'' as standard :-P -- Brian Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour !
