Well, you are partly right about assuming FreeBSD 2.1R, but the same thing
happened to me when installing 2.1.5-RELEASE, fetched from ftp.funet.fi, 3
days after it was released. The original mail described the 2.1.5R problems.
One wonder, did I really get the patched driver ...
