I have a system with a D-Link DFE-538TX card, which has worked since
July (see the commits for revision 1.38.2.7 of pci/if_rl.c and
1.14.2.1 of pci/if_rlreg.c).

At present, the machine runs 4.4-RELEASE, and detects the card as:

rl0: <D-Link DFE-530TX+ 10/100BaseTX> port 0xd000-0xd0ff mem 0xcb800000-0xcb8000
ff irq 9 at device 9.0 on pci0
rl0: Ethernet address: 00:50:ba:49:10:49
miibus0: <MII bus> on rl0
rlphy0: <RealTek internal media interface> on miibus0
rlphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, auto

Apparently, the DFE-530TX+ and DFE-538TX share the same PCI IDs, but
that's fine, because they both use the 8139. The card is performing
about as well as one can expect of a RealTek.

The patch that you posted to this list on Wednesday (i.e.
http://www.brad-x.com/cards/DFE-538TX/rl_patch.patch) seems to me to
be entirely redundant.

Is there another problem or patch that you're refering to?
