Hi.

Could any kind soul help me out, please?

Please, also reply to my mailbox as I'm not on the list.

I just upgrade a i386 FreeBSD box from REL-5.3.p15 to
REL-5.3.p23.

after installkernel I could reboot to single usermode
and did installworld, but after that I can no longer
reboot.. rebooting with the old kernel doesn't help.

I believe I did something wrong with mergemaster..
maybe I broke something in /boot/devices.hints..

the error messages:
unknown: <PNP0303> can't assign resources (port)
unknown: <PNP0501> can't assign resources (port)
unknown: <PNP0501> can't assign resources (port)
unknown: <PNP0401> can't assign resources (port)
unknown: <PNP0700> can't assign resources (port)
unknown: <PNP0f13> can't assign resources (irq)
ata0-master: FAILURE - ATA_IDENTIFY timed out

I could just make a dump of the various filesystems,
reinstall and restore my data.. but if I could just
fix the problem without reinstalling would be much better.

What happen if I just remove or cut -s0 /boot/devices.hints ?
..or.. what else?

Thank you!
