I hope it is ok to follow up my own post here. Thanks for the pointers about gmake it got me out of the first hole. After a bunch of compiles I am almost there. One of the last things it does is links everything together and bombs out with this message: ld: -ldl: no match Also I think there is going to be a problem with -lpthread too. Are these both Linux specific library thingies? Do I need them? I noticed that there is a ld.so in my /compat/linux folder, no pthreads stuff though. Anyway, I'm going to sleep on it.
