Hello all i am experiencing troubles with 3.1-RELEASE installation. installation process hangs when trying to probe my hitachi cdr-8335 cdrom drive (ide atapi). it is configured as a master on the second controller and has no slave. so does hard drive on the first controller. sure, i disable all unexisting hardware. when i disable wdc1, it doesn't hang, but it naturally doesn't see the cd-drive. :-) what can i do? my ide cables both are one-device-only, so i cannot plug the cd-drive as a slave into the first controller. moreover, if i could i'd then receive a negative gain in speed, and that's not good.
