Thanks for quick feedback. I did two further tests:

1.) 10.1, amd64, VirtualBox VM: portmaster fails
2.) 10.1, amd64, real hardware: Both portmaster and make build fail

System 1.) is upgraded via freebsd-update and 2.) is upgraded via make
buildworld.
