The same kernel with MAXMEM=32768 added runs fine. I found this message in pmap.c v1.123, line 903. This is on a 486dx50 ISA/VLB 2 Ide disks 2 SCSI disks (AHA1542CF) with DIAGNOSTIC enabled.
