Simply because DES was willing to import --- and more importantly, merge --- the latest OpenBSD OpenSSH. This scratched an important itch (for a recent version of ssh) in the near term. I suspect that we will switch to OpenSSH-portable at some point in the future. I think that task will also now be easier because of the 3.1 update DES just did. Cheers, -- Jacques A.
