Since you clarified you were using the default 10.3 installation, which did enable the options, please ignore the questions related to the options. And do you mean you want to disable heartbeat, kvp, shutdown and time sync without rebuilding the kernel? If yes, there are some tunables, but I'm not sure why you need to do this. :-) Sorry to hear you got a flu.
