Nicole,

Good to hear from you. I was wondering how the problem that you had with
the 3ware card and, how many were there, 8 disks finished.

I have asked the same question and one of 3ware's customers has the
following to say,

|
| Regarding the 3Ware recall, there are still plenty of 3Ware 7810s in the
| channel. They haven't been recalled due to any hardware bug, but a 3ware
| marketing department decision. 3Ware manufactures a competing (and MUCH
| more expensive) IDE RAID NAS device called the Palisade, which is over
| twice the price of "some of the competition" for half the storage.
|
| According to my industry sources, 3Ware got tired of giving away the keys
| to the kingdom by selling their Escalade RAID controllers ,(the same cards
| used in their Palisade) and decided to withdraw them from the market.
| Companies like "XXXXX" and their competitors were eating up too much of
| "their" market share. It's unfortunate they made that decision, but I'm
| sure another manufacturer will step in to fill the gap they left.
|
| The official 3ware propoganda is at

The above link is very long and tends to split across two lines.

I look forward to hearing how your odyssey with the disks/controler turned out.

|
| Can anyone elaborate on why they are recalling the Escalade 7000 cards?
| Also it seems that the "letter to customers" is now no longer there :(
