I don't know quite when it stopped working, but waveplay and wavplay in ports just produces a "chit chit chit..." sound to the speakers. writing .au files to /dev/audio works just fine, writing .wav files to /dev/dsp plays everything at the veeery slooowly, but that appears to be an improvement over last time I tried doing that. All the games I've tried so far work as well as ever. Anyway, looks to me like someone's been making a few changes to newpcm. Hope this is useful feedback.
