Sounds like you need to add

	Section "Monitor"
	        Option          "DPMS"          "false"
	EndSection

respectively.

In my ~/.xinitrc, I have these

	xset s off &
	xset -dpms &

to prevent blank / monitor off (suspend DPMS).

This is for the text mode consoles only. You can add

	saver="NO"

do your /etc/rc.conf, but I think it's already a default
value (check /etc/defaults/rc.conf).
