First you need to add the snoop device to your kernel, then recompile it. The snoop device is: pseudo-device snp 3 #3 snoop devices The number is not mandatory, it just specifies how many snoop devices you want. After adding the snp line to your kernel, config, compile, and install the kernel, then reboot. After rebooting, as root: cd /dev ./MAKEDEV snp3 or however many snp devices you specified. Then you will be able to: watch -Wi /dev/ttyp0 successfully. Kernel recompilation is covered in the handbook. -- Eric Hodel hodeleri@seattleu.edu "If you understand what you're doing, you're not learning anything." -- A. L. Now for the answer to your question, in order to use watch, you need the snoop device compiled into your kernel. Add the following line, then recompile.. pseudo-device snp 3 #Snoop device -- - Jim Mock - jim@blues.ghis.net - systems administrator - ghis.NET - - work: http://www.ghis.net/ - personal: http://www.ghis.net/~jim/ - - FreeBSD 'zine: http://www.freebsdzine.org/ - jim@freebsdzine.org - - FreeBSD: http://advocacy.freebsd.org/ - jim@advocacy.FreeBSD.org - To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message -----End of forwarded message----- -- Regards, -*Sue*- (` () '` <-- a +1 budgerigar named Einstein To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
