You really need to find out if it is a Winmodem. If it is then you're
wasting your time trying to make it work under FreeBSD.

As someone else pointed out in the previous thread, this suggests that
the modem is _not_ set to "COM2". You really should be careful about
using DOS terminology (COM{1,2,3,4}) here. In DOS COM3 & 4 use the
same IRQs as COM1 & 2 but in FreeBSD the *default* IRQs are different.

You must establish that it works! Maybe sio1 is not found because the
modem doesn't work. Can you not try it in another PC (under
DOS/Windows)?
