Scenario: I use a smb shared file system (win2k) via mount_smbfs and all is working fine (copy from/to, delete, etc.) Issue: today I found a file that causes kernel panic if I try to copy it to the share. # cp gaim.diff /mnt/ Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode [...] The panic is 100% reproducible with this particular file, a very simple diff file (available at http://www.alexdupre.com/gaim.diff).
