It comes from Sun, but I understand will be supported in FreeBSD 7.0 and after. It might not be quite what you are looking for, but it's worth a look. Sun is making it Open source and free. It is supposed to be included in Open Solaris as well as FreeBSD 7.xx and maybe some others.
