It appears from the "netstat -I" that every output packet on the ep0 interface results in a collision. tcpdump shows nothing on the interface originating from host "pantera" but local ping requests show up. Unfortunately, I have no way to get information off the 486. I don't think this is where the problem is though since this host worked the first time on a co-worker's net similar to the one below but with 2 FreeBSD PCs and 1 Sparc 2.
