Dear sir or madam:

        When attempting to install the last release of FreeBSD the
installation kernel refused to recognize my old single speed Mitsumi
CDROM drive (configured with the factory defaults, that's it, I/O port =
0x300, DRQ=5, IRQ=10) installed in my Foxen 30 MHz (486WB OPTI system).

        I suspect that there are some bus timing problems, since Linux
runs smoothly with the above configuration and FreeBSD's device probing
reports of a "timeout getting status" when looking for the mcd0 and mcd1
devices. Of course, I made sure that there were no hardware conflicts.
