Well, we've all done this, so don't worry about it. :) When I get to the end of my rope on a problem, I often will go do something else for a while, come back and type up a query to the appropriate list, then save it (without sending it). I find that a fresh brain and the action of formulating the query often kicks the neurons loose, and I end up solving it myself.
