About a week ago I posted a message to questions but received no
response. My problem is solved though, and I thought someone might
want to know that the Philips CDD2000 CD-Recorder works under
FreeBSD 2.2-961014-SNAP with very minor modifications. Maybe
someone could make these changes to the tree and add the CD-R to
the list of working CD-R's.

The only modifications required were to scsiconf.c and worm.c -
adding the vendor ID ("IMS") and model number ("CDD2000/00") in
such a way that it duplicates the HP 4020i entries. Apparently
some of the older CDD2000 drives had a different ID, so this may
not work for all. The quirks are the same as those of the HP drive.

Philips recently advertised the internal models for US $499 (after a
rebate); this is at least $100 cheaper than the HP drives I
could find around here. I just burnt a CD and was able to read
it from FreeBSD and DOS.
