No rush for other stable branches, surely; also, we're at the EoL (EoS at least) for stable/8 -- but if the changeset is not too harsh I see no reason not to merge it down there. As I @work have some loaded machines with ZFS base on at least 9 (while not really memory-loaded, not more than 32G -- but sometimes rather heavy loaded with userbase apps), I would be glad to test changesets if it's feasible.
