I gotta say just this.  It's MUCH easier when you can
autogenerate packing lists, *especially* if we're talking about
thousands of files like there are in some packages.  So getting
rid of %%CRAP%% is a good idea.  One way you could achieve this
(don't have any idea how it'd affect GNOME) is to make
xscreensaver always install in the non-GNOME or in the GNOME
location and look there for the confg file or whatever.
