Priority: normal X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Win32 (v2.53/R1) Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hi patient and sentient peoples, At boot time, I notice that... a) syslogd can't bind and can't assign address requested b) httpd can't bind to port 80 and can't assign address requested (didn't know I had!) What does bind do & Is there a pattern happening here that is stopping these daemons from doing their thing?? I'm a bit perplexed... Evidence.... syslogd doesn't seem to be able to find /vat/run/log...if I mkfifo it & start syslogd it works until re-boot & again no-go httpd (apache) is not started from inetd (I checked in conf file) There is a rc.d file with a apache.sh line in there. Any clues as to what the hell is going on?? Thanks Keith Spencer Teacher...St Margaret Marys College Townsville Australia
