Considering you have multiple systems to update the CD upgrade would be
easier in your case as it cuts down time considerably (personal experience
with 30+ FreeBSD systems all over the place, just send them the cd and
tell them to pop into the drive till I am done).

Also you could try a "Generic Build" of the cvs sources (or you can go for
the snapshot build which I was happy to read has been fixed again*g*) on
one fast machine and then install on all the FreeBSD machines from those
compiled binaries (which can be copied to cd and mounted to the related
directories).

There are advantages and disadvantages of most methods namely time and the
risk of a botched/broken build, which is why I can suggest from my own
attempts that a Generic Build from the latest cvs that would work on the
required platforms. This way you know the build has worked and just need
to do the install , and possible rebuild and install of the kernel. It can
be an easy task though dont quote me on that. If you need more detailed
steps on what to do you can try researching it on the net or mail me and I
am glad to help.
